Meet the Team: Here’s Allison!

Meet Allison, the first Team Member hired at Earth Fare Montgomery! Allison’s story begins with her own Health Journey.

In December, Allison made a commitment to GET HEALTHY. She researched fitness programs and healthy eating, which led her to Earth Fare’s Facebook page. She learned that Earth Fare would be coming to her hometown in a few months, and she wanted be a part of this experience.

Allison walked into the shell of Earth Fare Montgomery in January and left the store disappointed. No one was there but a construction crew. There were no answers; no applications.

In the parking lot, she ran into Denise, the store manager, and learned that there would be a job fair later that week. Allison was thrilled to have these details, and meeting Denise left her inspired. Knowing that a woman would be this store’s manager made her feel empowered and eager to work.

After the job fair, Allison trained in Tallahassee with her fellow Team Member Hector. And then began the daunting task of filling an entirely empty store….

In the few short weeks she has worked with Earth Fare, Allison is continually impressed by the presentation of the stores, quality of the products and camaraderie of the Earth Fare Team: “Everyone believes in one purpose—to feed and inspire the healthy person inside YOU. This means living a longer quality life, more time with your family, et cetera.” What began with a personal endeavor to find health led Allison to find a Home.

Welcome Home, Allison! We are so happy to have you!

Go Organic or Become a Lab Rat
    By Matthew Knight
When I first started researching material for this paper, I found the following quote by Monsanto’s director of corporate communications, Phil Angell, in the October 25, 1998 New York Times Article “Playing God in the Garden”. Mr. Angell stated, “Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the F.D.A.’s job. However, the FDA’s “Statement of Policy: Foods Derived from New Plant varieties” (GMO Policy), Federal Register, Vol. 57, No. 104 (1992), p. 229 declares “Ultimately, it is the food producer who is responsible for assuring safety”. Essentially, Americans are lab rats for Corporate farms whose sole purpose is to mass produce food without regard for the short term or long term effects that the genetically engineered food has on it’s consumers.
The general population has no idea what they are consuming. America in the past 20 years has become the most overweight nation in the world. Not only do Americans consume more petroleum in their vehicles than any other nation in the world and hereby destroy the earth’s natural resources, but also Americans consume an excessive amount of highly processed, genetically altered, and high calorie foods in their bodies than any other nation in the world. Sadly, America’s children are the most obese in the world. In every state in the United States, more than 25% of the children are clinically overweight. In the state of Mississippi, close to 50% of the children are clinically overweight. So, while Americans burn the earth’s natural resources and drive everywhere, their bodies get little physical exercise and are completely malnourished by eating genetically altered processed foods.
Everything that one consumes becomes a part of that person. This is evidenced in the first Law of the Conservation of Energy: “Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another. “ The food that people eat is converted to energy by the human digestive system. The body absorbs the vitamins, nutrients, and natural sugars that it needs from the food and eliminates the waste products and toxins. However, when the body is introduced to unnatural substitutes such as artificial flavors and empty calorie foods with little to no nutritional value, the end result is an unhealthy body which is very susceptible to disease and illness.
The human body is made from the minerals of the Earth (Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, and many others). The human body was designed to naturally process the natural foods from this planet. When mankind tampers with the natural order of things, unnatural results occur. This is the reason that Americans who consume more genetically altered foods than any other nation in the world have a higher percentage rate of coronary artery disease, diabetes, hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, obesity, arthritis, and many forms of cancer.
In order to avoid the fate of the majority of Americans, one must change their habits. The old proverb, “You are what you eat” has been proven true. Everything that a person consumes becomes a part of them. If one follows the route of an all natural diet of organic food, their body is much more healthy and stronger to ward off germs and diseases. Without a healthy organic diet and exercise, a person predisposes themselves to many life shortening and life threatening diseases. If one wishes a long natural healthy life, their best bet is to keep it all natural and Go Organic!

I met Allison last Sunday on my second trip to your store here in Montgomery. She was an absolute delight and very helpful. Montgomery has long needed a store like Earth Fare, and you have filled that need and have a store with great employees. It is a pleasure to shop there.

  5. Michael says:

I hope this store is as awesome as the Auburn, AL store. Great food. It has changed my life for the healthier.
