Heather’s Story (in her own words):

I had always believed I ate healthy.
My mom was a no sweets or junk food kind of lady and my brother and I grew up with a love of fruits and veggies. However, what was REALLY in my food had never occurred to me, until eating turned into Russian roulette.
You see I’d always had “tummy troubles”; stomach aches, bathroom breaks, and horrible gut pain were just part of my everyday life. I honestly thought everyone felt awful when they ate. After putting together that I was getting sick on some of the same foods all the time, I tested and found that I had severe intolerances to dairy (both proteins and lactose), peanuts, corn and sesames. Well, so far.
You see, my “allergies” are always a work in progress.
Growing up in a family that was historically dairy farmers, meant that at 30, I now had NO idea how to cook or eat. My husband and kids scratched everything and started over with me. Discovering the hidden dairy in every boxed product forced me to make a decision to cook from scratch and at the same time we choose to buy local foods when ever possible.
As we ate better our energy started to grow and we started taking more family hikes, working out – my husband even resumed his high school love of running! In the three years since I first discovered I couldn’t eat “like a normal person”, my whole family and many friends have adopted even better eating habits and have been made more aware of what they are REALLY eating – all because of my tummy aches. Thanks allergies. We needed that. ;o)

There have been over 200 new food allergys named in the last few years.Could it be because of the introduction of G.M.crops in the last few years.I have severe allergy to ragweeds but in the last few years I have been hit with many new food allergys.
