Over-priced and playing on hype – not worth it.
I absolutely loved Earth Fare on my first visit Wednesday (06.23.10). I went back again! I felt like a kid in a new toy store. I am so relieved not to spend 2-3 hours (yes, h-o-u-r-s) in other stores reading labels in order to choose the healthiest products. It was so amazing just to glance at the ingredients list and not have to study it. The hot food bar and deli….O-M-G! I was in health food heaven! My only fear…there are so many great choices that I may gain weight from trying to sample everything in the store.
I was very, very impressed that you staff was both super friendly and so knowledgeable. My retired mother said this would definitely become her new hangout. After leaving the store, I immediately called several family members. At my doctor appointment, it was the first thing I told my doctor about. Then, later, I told the cable guy about it. I just printed my first “makeover” coupon sent to my email. I love this idea to help customers makeover their pantry! Wow! I love this store! Oh yeah, I also found that the prices were comparably priced with other stores in this area.
“Organically produced foodstuffs are not richer in vitamins and minerals than conventionally produced foodstuffs, conclude researchers in a systematic review published in 2010 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.”
Don’t by the hype at Earth Fare and Whole Foods…
@Trisha, There is still a LOT of research being conducted on the benefits of organic vs. conventional food. For every article or study that lists the positives, there is another one to dispute those positives. While the jury is still out on what additional vitamins and nutritional benefits organic food can supply, we are confident that there are several dangers we avoid with organic food. For example, organic soil doesn’t produce any dangerous chemical runoff. By avoiding chemicals found in pesticides and herbicides, we keep our soil healthy – thereby keeping our plants and water sources healthy, too. Healthier plants look better and are more flavorful, and healthier water brings healthier sea life. There are health benefits for us in avoiding those chemicals, too. For example, a recent study showed a link between pesticides and ADHD. You can read more about that here: http://tomatotalk.earthfare.com/2010/05/20/pesticides-linked-to-adhd/, where we also link to the study. I hope this sheds a little more light on the subject, and thanks for joining the conversation!
@Randall, sorry you feel that way!
@Cassandra, I’m so glad you enjoyed your experience. Thanks for spreading the word.
What a wonderful surprise to find this store in Auburn! I completely agree with everything Cassandra said. I hate having to compromise at the grocery store and try to find something sort of healthy. I am overweight as is my youngest daughter. I hope that we will be able to transition our bad food out of the house. I will have to sneak some things in for the men in the house who like sweets every night! I can’t wait to get back and spend some time browsing. I have to learn a whole new way to shop!
Love it!
Thanks Earthfare for your incredible knowledge…Now, care to tell me how much radiation your security camera’s are emitting around all the customers???
Stopped by this store on July 4th for the first time…VERY unimpressed.
The staff stood around and IGNORED customers. I was in a line and another cashier was just standing around looking bored. I didn’t even know she was “open” until another customer went into her line because mine was so long.
The selection is so limited. I like the new Publix far better and the employees are nicer there too.
@Betty I’m so sorry to hear that. I’d like to send you a gift card if you’ll give us the chance to make it up to you. Would you email me at corley.may@earthfare.com? We’ll get it in the mail ASAP.
No thanks…
A store is only as good as its employees and this store was not ready to open. I also didn’t like the feel or set-up of this store. I shop Whole Foods all the time while in B’ham and much prefer it. Not even a gift card will lure me back to Earth Fare. You’re just not that good.
@Betty I’m so sorry to hear that. We wish you the best, and thank you for the feedback.
When is Tallahassee going to be celebrating their grand opening!!!!!!!
@Holly, we’ll be there in early December!
