You sell organic vegan cookies! My toddler eats organic vegan cookies. I will no longer have to drive to Nashville to buy them.
In fact, I have a feeling the “other store” in Nashville – the one that rhymes with Mole Moods – will miss me.

You sell fake meat! We love fake meat. Farm animals love people who eat fake meat. It’s a win-win-win.

Organic produce! We need lots of colors to live, as I tell the aforementioned toddler. I can taste the summer salads now. Green leaves. Red tomatoes. Purple grapes. White mushrooms. Blue blueberries. Orange…oranges. You get the picture. We’re going to have a very healthy relationship.

And – be still my heart – the toddler can eat free on Thursday night! Were you trying to make all our dreams come true at once? Are you the Willy Wonka of grocery stores – perhaps the McDreamy of markets? Only time will tell.

  2. Brooke says:

I cannot wait to have a store where I don’t have to worry about high fructose corn syrup! I have two girls (4 and 2) that I am trying to get to eat right from the start instead of having to break bad habits!!! Do you know how nice it will be to be able to give into “wants” that I know contain healthy ingredients. Also, do you know how long it takes to read the ingredients with a 4 and 2 year old?? It will make shopping much faster!

  3. Mint says:

Having an EarthFare in Huntsville will help us make smarter choices in what we buy to eat.

Eating healthy in our household is quite the chore. I’ve got a wife who is by far the most finicky eater I’ve ever known, and a 2yr old who is starting to take after her. Besides this, we live on a shoe string budget, and are not allowed to have a grill at our apartment.

To fight these obstacles, we have begun to take baby steps at getting us to eat better.

1.) Drastically decrease our eating out. This helps both budget-wise and health-wise

2.) Make a menu at the beginning of each week detailing our meals. This allows us to think about which veggies to add ahead of time, rather than spur of the moment where it generally winds up being french fries….

3.) Watch Jamie Oliver…..helps put things in perspective….

4.) Buy better snacks. Instead of buying a huge pack of oreos, we’ll buy some natural granola bars. We try to buy fewer chips and try to supplement with carrots or something of the sort….

As for buying all organic / natural…etc, we are definitely not there….most of our meals still consist of meat, potato, and a bread, but we ARE taking small steps to improve our eating.

Having the EarthFare right here in huntsville will broaden the horizons of the good, organic and healthy choices we can purchase.

  4. Megan says:

Fresh food! I absolutely can’t wait! Earth Fare, this area needs you here! 8 days until my shopping cart is full (an extra $50 would be great)!!

  5. Norma Dees says:

“Are You Going to Huntsville Earth Fare”
(Sung to the tune of “Scarborough Fair”)

Are you going to Huntsville Earth Fare?
    Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Improve your life and health if you dare
It won’t be a waste of your time!

A shopping spree would be pretty cool
Eat good food, don’t be such a fool!
Remember me when you give your prize
So I’ll be healthy, wealthy, and wise!

  6. Shannon Kish says:

excited about Earth fare coming to Huntsville. Count me in!

  7. Shannon Kish says:

I am excited about Earth Fare coming to Huntsville! I have never been to an Earth Fare. I love Garden Cove, here in town, but sometimes they are limited as to what they have and so I am excited to see what Earth Fare is all about!

  8. Tonya Adams says:

What would I do with a 50 dollar gift card? Well, I would finally be buying food that was good and good for my family. It is so hard to find food in the average supermarket like the food that fills the Earth Fare shelves. Being a wife and mom of two, I try my best to read labels and only feed my family the best. In the normal grocery store it is easier said than done I’m afraid. And that is a sad thing. Recently I have read books and watch documentaries on where exactly our food comes from and I was astonished. It only fueled my desire or pay even closer attention to the food that goes into my family’s mouth. I am on a mission to provide safe and healthy food to my family. Earth Fare is going to make that mission much easier. Thank you for coming to Huntsville!

  9. Kerry Pilgrim says:

I am so excited to see a new grocery store come to Huntsville. My children love junk food hopefully finding some great nutritious food at Earth Fare will change their minds. This just in time for the summer fruit season! Woohoo!

  10. KW Norman says:

Can’t wait for you to open this wonderful store. I do have children who have food allergies—and it is going to be nice to start shopping in a store who cares about the foods we eat here. Can’t wait to get some locally grown produce that actually tastes good!

  11. Jennifer C. says:

Once in awhile something wonderful happens that has the potential to be life-changing. I believe Earth Fare opening in Huntsville is one of those things. I’ve never been one to pay close attention to labels, but after watching shows such as “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” I’ve realized I better pay more attention. I have 5 beautiful children and they deserve the option to eat healthy, non-processed foods. My husband and I are both struggling to maintain a healthy weight. The fact that you not only have amazing, healthy food, but you give classes to teach people ways to improve their culinary skills and use healthier methods of cooking is just impressive. I can’t wait, and a $50 gift card would just be an awesome start to a new love of healthy food.

  12. Hopeful Mommy says:

My husband and I are at the beginning of our journey to start our family. We have been making healthier choices for a while now, but a gift certificate to Earth Fare would really change our lives right now. We are trying to grow some fresh produce in pots, but we live in an apartment with poor light. Tough economic times have hit us, but we are doing the best and healthiest we can with what we have. We would love to win a gift card so we can pick up some items that are truly luxury food items that will benefit both of us and hopefully, the baby we would like to bring into this world.

  13. Kristi Holland says:

Ask any of my closest friends and they will tell you I’ve been super excited for months about Earth Fare coming to Huntsville!! For years, I’ve been traveling to Nashville to purchase many of the foods and healthcare products I use, which I can’t find here locally. I am thrilled to know that I will now be able to shop at Earth Fare anytime I want! I have introduced several close friends to Earth Fare, and they are excited to check it out when the store opens as well.

I am a long distance runner, and whenever I’m asked how I manage to log so many miles without injury, I always answer that the key to my health is in what I eat (and don’t eat)! I am a very firm believer in the idea that the quality of the “fuel” you give your body is in direct proportion to the quality of performance your body gives in return, as well as the general state of physical health and well-being. For approximately 7 years, I’ve been eating organic foods and using organic healthcare and household products wherever possible, and it has made all the difference in my physical health.

I think the thing that excites me even more than being able to shop at Earth Fare myself, is that now when I share a recipe with a friend for some healthy dish I discovered (sometimes off your website) or I tell someone about some great product I use, they can actually try it for themselves. The first question is always, “well, where do you buy that,” and when I answer that I get it in Nashville, they aren’t interested. I’ve done lots of reading and research, and I get so passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with others! Now, my friends can see how many great options are out there for much healthier foods and healthcare products. And as for myself, I no longer have to travel out of state or order off the internet! I cannot wait until May 12th! Actually, I’ve already started a shopping list, which includes some gluten-free condiments that I haven’t been able to purchase anywhere else in Huntsville.

  14. Michael says:

I am a father of two with a hardworking stay-at-home wife/mother who cooks amazing meals from scratch. We live an hour from the Huntsville Earth Fare but have been traveling over two hours to another store. The 50.00 gift certificate would go a long way in helping us continue to eat organically.
I would use this to make my famous spaghetti and garlic bread with a salad and give my wife a well needed and deserving break. I then would buy my wife some flowers to show her my appreciation of all the hard work she does. This would be a very nice surprise as Mothers Day is the weekend before and she would not be expecting it.
We are all super excited to have Earth Fare near us. I am even taking the day off to drive the family to the grand opening. Thank you for locating near us!

  15. Jarred says:

I am really pumped to see an Earth Fare opening up in our city. My family is making an effort to be more health conscious, but we’re finding the price of eating organic/healthy foods to be quite challenging. I love your store’s philosophy on changing food culture by really making an effort to make it attainable for people. I would use my 50$ to empower my chef-ly wife with some healthy, awesome ingredients!

  16. Margaret Maxikowski says:

I could use a 50.00 gift card to support local farmers, being a local farmer I would love to try your store and trade in the “bad” foods my children have been eating. Finding a good variety of local food is sometimes hard.
please consider us for a gift card to try your store for the first time.

  17. Jenn Weiner says:

So excited to finally have a healthy grocery store in Huntsville. Would love to spend the gift card on great food for the whole family. We are trying to cut out the junk!!!!

  18. Dee says:

Welcome to Huntsville Earth Fare! I would love to win the $50.00 gift card to help me continue on my journey of changing my life and getting healthy. I have recently quit smoking (after 48 years), started walking (my hips are crying but they’ll get over it), taking 2 yoga classes a week and eatting vegetarian (thought this one would be hard but so far it’s great and delicious). Thanks for choosing Huntsville to open your newest store and for being part of our growing community.

  19. Tammie says:

We have been on our healthy journey since my almost 7 yr old decided he couldn’t wait to be born at 26 weeks(3 lbs). He was diagnosed with moderate-severe cerbral palsy with hypertonia(too much muscle). We were given a prognosis that he would never walk and never talk. While doing extensive research I couldn’t believe what was in our food-how could ANY of us walk and talk with all that garbage in our bodies, so we changed. With a healthy diet and therapy galore, I am now the proud mother of a walking, talking, 71 lb kindergartener! Without the garbage, his body was able to heal itself! He can’t wait for Earth Fare kids meals!

I would use a $50 gift card to pick out all of my children’s favorite foods, go ahead, throw it in the cart, I don’t even have to read the label first!!!

We were happy to meet all of you at Bridge Street for Earth Day, such a fun event!! Thanks for joining us in Huntsville!!

  20. Paula West says:

There are exactly 7 reasons living in my house as to why I want to win the gift card. I am the only person in the house that researches and tries to find the best products for my family. I am a mother of 5 and a grandmother of 7. Right now I have a 6 year old of my own and two other grandchildren living with me 4 and 6 too! I want to instill healthy eating to these babies and make the adults follow too. My 6 year old son is already following my recycling ways. Now if I can get all of them on a full earth friendly, healthy attitude I will know that I have done my job. I am so excited that there is going to be a full organic food store in my area!!!!!!!

  21. Tamara Evans says:

I am so glad Earth Fare is opening in Huntsville. Prior to this happening, my husband and I would travel as far as Nashville to Whole Foods in order to get a variety of healthy food. Since becoming a vegan and considering that my husband is vegetarian, I am eager to see what types of wonderful food this store has!I would use the gift card to buy Judyfood dip, and other vegetarian/vegan foods.

  22. Kathy O'Dell says:

Opening Day is Rhonda Mitchell’s birthday. For her birthday, girl-friend get-together she asked if we could do lunch at EarthFare. She thinks it is absolutely wonderful that they are opening the store as a birthday present to her!

So, I would like to enter her name for the $50 opening day give-away. What a nice surprise for her!

Here’s hoping–and “Yes!” a group of us will be there in the deli to say “Happy Birthday, Rhonda! We love you.”

    Thanks,
    Kathy

  23. Shelia says:

I am so excited about the new store! Our family lives in Hartselle and we will be happy to drive 30 minutes to shop for healthy alternatives. The $50 giftcard would be a wonderful way to try new things that we normally might not buy. I want to eliminate my family’s need for prescriptions drugs and heal through healthy and wholesome foods, the way that our Blessed Savior intended. Thank you.

  24. kelly clements says:

I need that gift card! First off…I am so excited about Earth Fare coming to Huntsville! I’m sure I will be one of the 1st customers. I am a mother of 3 beautiful girls: ages 7,4, and 9 months. Eating healthy is very important for me and my family. I am especially looking forward to the local, organic produce that I plan to incorporate in recipes and babyfood I will make for my 9 month old!

  25. Kristin S says:

I am so excited for the store to open. Right now I have to go to several different places to get pasture fed meats, farm fresh eggs and organic fruits and veggies. We have changed how we eat so much that my 2nd grader even asked me to start making his breakfast and lunch instead of getting it in the cafeteria at school. I am thankful to your company for bringing this store to Huntsville and offering even more healthy choices to help keep my family healthy and happy.

  26. Natasha P. says:

Very excited to have Earth Fare come to Huntsville! Can’t wait to visit the store!

  27. Teresa Bartek says:

I would love to win the $50 card. We live in Muscle Shoals which is an hour from Huntsville. We currently drive to Huntsville to another grocery store (kind of pricey) and to Birmingham to yet a different type “healthy” grocery store. We love to eat organic, hormone and additive free foods but we just don’t have any options in the Muscle Shoals. After watching the movie Food Inc, we have changed the way we eat. We have been excited about the opening of your location so that we can check it out and share what we find with all of our friends in Muscle Shoals and Florence. With $50 extra, we will be able to share more….from your stand point look at it as advertising to an extension of your market place, lol.
    Thanks,
    Teresa

  28. Mark Smedley says:

Looking forward to shopping in your new store.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  29. Erika says:

I am trying to pay more attention to what I eat – less processed, more organic, etc. It’s not an easy battle.
This $50 gift card would give me the opportunity to try some new products and aid in my healthy eating quest!
I’m so glad EarthFare is coming to Huntsville!

  30. J Lambert says:

I am just so happy that we are getting an EarthFare, lived in Ashville, NC loved it, lived in Johnson City, TN was overjoyed cause I didn’t have to drive every two weeks to Ashville hehe. And now I have some grocery shopping to look forward to here woohoo!!!

  31. Hope Miller says:

I am so happy that EarthFare is coming to Huntsville, I have been trying to get my family to try healthier and more nutritious foods and this will make it even easier .
Thank you !! Look forward to shopping with you.

  32. Valerie Stewart says:

Ok, who wouldn’t love to win a $50.00 dollar gift card from Earth Fare? I think there are alot of us who are trying to eat better, cook better ,and alot of other things better. I know for myself I am starting a lifestyle of change begining with food. So I couldn’t think of a better place to start than Earth Fare so I can begin a new way of living with better food and better choices of food. This wouldn’t be just for me it would be for my family and friends of who I would share it with. Thank you Earth Fare for coming to Huntsville.

  33. Rebecca Cook says:

Thanks for coming to Huntsville. I am glad people are realizing how important it is to keep our God-created bodies healthy and our lifestyles clean. I have been looking forward to shopping at Earth Fare since my good friend in Knoxville passed the info along. It’s about time Huntsville got some of the good stuff! Time to get my hubby on that healthy eating diet he’s been telling me about!

  34. Alyse Hester says:

    I’m finally here…
It’s as if I’ve stepped into a dream. I hear refreshing music drifting around me and smell freshly prepared food as I browse through organic produce, and aisles of pure food. After shopping, I sit down to enjoy EarthFare’s cafe.
I’ve experienced this many times when my family is traveling, and each time before we left I would leave a comment; “Please come to Huntsville”
Now that my dream has finally become a reality, I want to share it with my family and friends by buying them healthy gifts, but I am young, and have a limited income. If only I had $50…

  35. Kelly Porter says:

HI! SOooooo happy you are coming to Huntsville! I harass, i mean talk to, your twitter often. I have had food allergies (primarily milk) since I was seven and have had to do some crazy substitutions or drive a long long way to find products I could tolerate. Now, I’ll have ya’ll to help!

If I don’t win, can I sleep on the floor in the store? I want to live there.

  36. Dennis E says:

I really want to win this because my wife has been talking non stop about your stop coming here. If I won, I’d make a ratatouille and a vegan desert for my wife (nut free because I’m allergic to nuts).

  37. Dale Johnson says:

I have never really considered natural or organic food as I have always felt that the food in all grocery stores is very healthful and not harmful. I did realize about 10 years ago that butter was better to ear than margarine, but that was the extent of my view on healthy foods. Then recently our youngest daughter showed us a video program on our USA food supply and how it’s processed and then fed to us. It was very eye-opening to me! I then determined to start to eat more healthy natural foods the remaining years God gives me to live on planet Earth. Thank you.

  38. Ann Roberts says:

While in Chattanooga over the holidays, my sister in law suggested I stop in and check out their brand new EarthFare grocery store. Now why would I want to drive across town and walk thru a healthy grocery store that is right next to another “healthy” grocery store that I am already familiar with. Along with another chain “healthy” grocery store a few miles away, Chatty is inundated with healthy grocery store options. But, my sister in law stated, this store is different and you are GONNA LOVE IT!! So off I went and was I ever glad I did. She was so right. It had all the things I wanted, and needed to be able to provide good healthy nutrition to my family and still have it be tasty. But darned it all, I don’t live in Chatty and could not ever shop there on a regular basis.

So once I got back home I put “EarthFare” in to my search engine, pulled up the website and found that Huntsville was due to have their own EarthFare, opening in early May!! Oh happy day!! It has been a long slow spring waiting for the weather to warm up but it has been made slower waiting for the EarthFare to open up!! Finally this week we will all see it come to fruition!!

  39. Arisa Leonard says:

A few weeks ago, a group of friends and I decided to quit smoking. It has been a struggle for many of us, but we are sticking to it because we realize all of the health risks. We determine the quality of the rest of our lives, but making smart decisions, to quit smoking, and to eat healthier. Our next step is to modify our diets to eat better. Smoking can kill you, but so can eating fast food everyday. Help us get our jump start by giving us a $50 shopping spree to a better quality of life!

  40. Rhond says:

I would first check out the Earth Fare dining in options. After that, I’d make my way around the store & stock up on all sorts of goods. Thanks!

  41. Samantha says:

I have been waiting for what seems like forever to have access to quality organic food and produce! Growing up, I got lucky. We lived out in the middle of nowhere, but we drank ice cold untainted spring water, had access to several forgotten berry patches during the summer (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, oh my!), and as fall came around we had apples! The most AMAZING apples… My folks didn’t have much money and I remember we were on food stamps at one point, so to supplement our veggies my mom started a garden. She got so much out of it that even when things got a little better she made sure to keep at it. Pretty much every summer of my childhood almost all of my vegetables were fresh. And as long as I was careful not to harm the plants, I could pick fresh veggies any time I wanted! Sugar snaps right off the vine were my favorite. There were no pesticides or artificial fertilizers to taint the soil and poison the water table. It was a lot of work, but I really miss it.
Eventually we moved, and so no more garden. I left for college and had probably the worst diet of my life for the next three and a half years. No more rammen or mac&cheese, ever! How I managed to keep my health I’ll never know. Finally I moved out of student housing and found that the local grocery store offered local organic produce during the mid/late summer and fall! But there were still a lot of things that I couldn’t find unless I went to a specialty store, and those places are always so expensive. To top it off, I don’t have a car of my own, which meant those trips were very very rare.
So now I’m here in Huntsville, AL, living with the love of my life and trying to eek out a living as an artist. We try to eat healthy, but sometimes you just don’t have too many options. The healthy things you think you are buying turn out to be packed with all sorts of nastiness like hormones, preservatives, and my favorite, pesticides. (If it kills bugs, it probably doesn’t do you any good either!) Then low and behold, Earth Fare is coming to Huntsville! The best part? It is only a 20 minute walk from where I live! I feel silly for being so excited over a store, but like I said, I really have been waiting a long time for this.

  42. Betty Cobb says:

Thank you so very much for opening a store in Huntsville, AL. My husband and I will be regular customers. We currently drive to Birmingham to buy our food and try to help take care of elderly parents, while working full time jobs. I would be very grateful, if I were to win the $50.00 shopping spree. I have told everyone about Earth Fare opening in Huntsville, on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 and plan to invite many friends to come with us to the grand opening. Thank you in advance for your consideration for the $50.00 shopping spree and thank you again for a health food store close to home.

  43. Justin says:

With the gift card, my first excursion into a genuine FOOD store would be subsidized. More tangible incentive to begin moving toward a shopping philosophy I’ve been meaning to adopt for quite awhile. The gift card would be nice to use in stocking up on some of the natural, non-animal items my vegan friend would eat when she crashes here for a couple of days in early June. It’s disappointing not to meet the food requirements of a house guest, even if that guest requires less common fare than most. I want to support her difficult but admirable choices and have toyed with making similar, if not as strict, choices myself (see reason #1). This way, she might not have to bring her own grocery store with her. I could even invite her along to Earth Fare to show me the ropes of conscious grocerying.

And who wouldn’t want a food gift card, anyway?

You could turn our four “fluffy” frowns upside down with some healthy alternatives!

  46. Eve says:

It would be nice to NOT have to buy products online because I cannot find them here. Many items are necessary to rid my husband’s illness and it helps to have them close by. Now I can run to the health food store instead of the supermarket. The $50 aids anyone in buying things that are too pricing to try. Your Thurs eve dinner is a great way to rid childhood obesity. Bravo! It can also give us many ideas/recipes on what to cook and how to make new meals and subsequently buy your wonderful products. Thanks for

  47. Eve says:

… bringing wholesome products. It’s refreshing to go into a market that you know you don’t have to study the ingredients as hard.

Thank you for all your great comments, and excitement!! Keep them coming and don’t forget to sign up for the health journey & email newsletter on our website! There are GREAT DEALS coming your way!

I would find a family who is interested in eating healthy and give them the 50.00 certificate to help them get started on their journey. This family would have to clean out their pantry and begin a 7 week journey in changing to a healthy lifestyle. They would document their menu of meals and keep reciepts as evidence of their participation. At the end of 7 weeks we would do a before and after comparison. Also, they would have to folow up with your store as a recipent to gain success and give a testimonial of how a healthy lifestyle has changed their lives in all areas. They would be rewarded with an incentive to encourage them to continue their journey.

We are what we eat and most of our diseases and sickness comes from what we put into our bodies. It would be nice to see more miracle stories from people changing to a healthy lifestyle.
