Earth Fare’s Commitment to Eliminate Childhood Obesity

Today, Michelle Obama unveiled her new nationwide campaign to combat childhood obesity, “Let’s Move.”  As a leading purveyor of healthy, natural and organic foods, Earth Fare also recognizes the gravity of the childhood obesity epidemic.  With about 33% of America’s children either overweight or obese, the need is urgent: today’s children are the first generation to have shorter life expectancies than their parents.

Earth Fare is ready to do its part in this fight.  We will be launching a new program, Itty Bitty Bites, that charges us to eliminate childhood obesity in the areas in which we serve.  Ambitious?  Yes.  Daunting?  No.  Earth Fare’s mission and Food Philosophy prepare us well.

Earth Fare has already committed to selling only good and healthful ingredients, but we know we can do even more to play our part in the fight against childhood obesity.  So, we are.  Stay tuned.
