Success on the Health Journey
The Lams’ Story (in their own words):
We have always eaten healthy, veggies, fresh meat, and fruits. We limited juice, and never ate treats that were full of sugar…EVER! But after our 3rd child was born, with SEVERE food allergies to all of the staple foods we eat, we decided to change our entire family’s diet.
My son, who is almost 2 years old, has severe anaphylaxis allergy to milk products like eggs and regular milk; severe hives to wheat, sweet peas; and other itching problems to corn, garlic, onion, pinto beans, lima beans, soy….the list goes on and on. The only factor that I can pinpoint to this problem was MY eating while pregnant, which was horrible. I consumed a lot of Little Debbie type snacks.
At home, we have changed our diets to include him, and that is a big change from what I am used to. For example, Boca burgers cannot be a meal anymore! EarthFare carries so many products that are gluten free, milk free, etc., that my son, just before Chirstmas (22 months old), actually had his first taste of bread, and THE WHOLE family loved it!!! Bob’s Red Mill has saved our lives!!!
Eating is a new journey for us. I actually made a homemade cream of celery soup we all could enjoy, AND I used it in a casserole that my son could actually eat. Thank you for allowing us to acutally go back to the basics of cooking, with a twist. We have a lot to learn, and I know we can find all the healthy products we need at your store. Blessings to you.

It’s so wonderful you have found a variety of things he can eat. It’s also a great testament to the healthy assortment that can be found at Earth Fare.
Awesome Story and what a teriffic family !!!
You seem like such an amazing mother. Do you think you could post up some of your recipes?
Hey, eggs aren’t a dairy product! Dairy products are made from milk produced by cows, goats, sheep, etc. … all are mammals that produce milk to feed their young. Eggs are (if fertilized) potential baby chickens… and chickens are birds, not mammals. No milk involved! Since your son has reactions to both eggs and dairy, he has one allergy to dairy products and another allergy to eggs.
I think the idea that eggs are a dairy product is a common misconception that arose because eggs and dairy products are often housed together in grocery store refrigerators.
I have friends who have food allergies or intolerances and I respect what a challenge it is to eat well while minimizing the potential for illness. Good luck going forward!
