Halloween – Earth Fare Style!

Posted by: earthfare | October 29, 2009

Remember how fun Halloween used to be as a kid?  What other holiday allowed you to dress up in a crazy costume and roam around the neighborhood with friends asking neighbors for delicious treats?

Can’t do that on Memorial Day!  Can’t do that on Labor Day and definitely can’t do that on 4th of July!

Now, you’re a parent, and you wanna make sure your kiddos have as much fun as you did in the “good old days” when candy was made with real sugar (not high fructose corn syrup) and treats were often homemade!  Here are a few tips from your friends at Earth Fare for how to have a happy and healthy Halloween.

1.)  Make your Own Costume Party – throw a make-your-own costume party!  Why not sit down with your kids, their friends and some arts and crafts supplies and create your own creepy ghoul or goblin get-up?

2.)  Hide and Seek – No game has entertained children more in the last thousand years!  Invite a bunch of friends over and play in your house, your back yard or even in a public park.  Spice things up and make the adults hide from the kids and whoever finds the adult gets a prize!

3.)  I Want Candy – It’s not just the title of an 80’s pop song; it’s probably what your kids will say to you at some point.  And while you want them to enjoy some candy, you don’t want them to go into a sugar coma.  So work on setting some limits with your kids and their candy before you head out trick-or-treating.

And don’t forget you can always head to Earth Fare’s Halloween Hullabaloo (RAIN or SHINE) for a healthy way to spend the holiday!  Kids of all ages welcome!
